Welcome! My name is Laura Lopez (lovingly called Miss Laura by students), and I have been teaching violin, viola, and piano lessons for 9 years.

My Background and Education
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where I began piano lessons at age 5, violin through the school at age 9, and private violin lessons at age 11. Throughout middle and high school I was presented with many musical opportunities, including teaching violin lessons, playing with the Livermore-Amador Symphony, participating in several honors music festivals, and performing in the pit for the Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre from 2007 to 2011.
In 2011 I moved to Southern California to study music at Chapman University under the instruction of William Fitzpatrick (violin), Robert Becker (chamber music), and Karen Knecht (piano). In May of 2015 I received a Bachelors of Arts in Music with a minor in Integrated Educational Studies from Chapman University. After graduating, I began teaching violin, viola, and piano professionally.
My Mission and Teaching Philosophy
- Help students meet their musical goals
- Use music to address the whole student (physical, emotional, and mental)
- Develop a lifetime love of music and learning
- Use music to develop student discipline, goal-setting, and perseverance
Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best. -Henry Van Dyke

Teaching is my passion, and I love gifting what I’ve learned from my own teachers to my students. I have had incredible performance opportunities (including performing in a show at Disneyland from 2014-2016), but I find that I am most inspired and in my element as a teacher. I look forward to meeting you, and starting you on your own musical journey!
